Andreatta: Nothing sexist about 'naive,' Mayor Warren

................... from the D&C ..............................

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren dealt the gender card Wednesday in her escalating war with people who put on plays.

She took umbrage with remarks by Mark Cuddy, the longtime artistic director at Geva Theatre Center, describing her belief that Rochester needs a new performing arts center to brand itself a “City of the Arts” as “naïve at best.” Warren once used the word in an interview to describe herself as a child, when she was unable to comprehend financial pressures faced by her parents. More recently, she approved of the word being used to describe an idea posed by her opponent in the upcoming mayoral primary, Rachel Barnhart. ... 553504001/

(We need to stop tapping the taxpayers and shaking the money tree in Albany for Art programs. Our Rochester Hearing Association of America Chapter has worked very closely with all the performing arts centers to provide accessibility for hard of hearing people. The first several years we paid for open captioning at GEVa and other Performing places with our annual fundraisers. After that we got corporations and businesses to support this endeavor and it has been very successful. Look around you Lovely Warren instead of going to the Tit like so many others often do here in NY State. Like Field of Dreams - if you build it they will come. If that was true the bird cage and a number of other adventurous ideas would be built.)
