Construction could start next summer on a long-awaited $141 million modernization project at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In a recent news release, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has received bids for the project after setting an Oct. 2 deadline. The Corps expects to award contracts in January, with construction expected to start in the summer and continue through 2022.
