Been a long weekend starting with the Elks Chicken Barbecue and Gun Raffle. Ran into a few old time MINIONS there and many friends. The Exalted Ruler later that evening in the lodge came over and asked how I was doing. He said we were all sitting around here thinking about you so we called you son at Leonard's Express. He told us all things went well. I told him myself as well as the wife is also over with here last chemo. So were both on recovery road.

Sunday a business owner from Victor called asking how I was doing and I invited him for supper. He at first said he didn't want to impoae. No one imposes here we serve many people many times here. The wife and I very seldom eat alone. So I prepared some brand new cuts of NY Striop steaks from Palmers, 12 0z each and both my sons, daughter in law and infant all joined us. Tunred out to be a feast with steaks , cheeseburgers, corn on cob, baked beans, lettuce with all the trimmings, italian bread, fried crimini's. Dessert was connli stuffed with ricotta and shaved semi sweet chocolate or chocolate. Watermelon and variety of ice creams were also available.

Yesterday, at noon, we had our annual retiree's picnic at the Canandaigua Moose Club -1/2 chicken, salt potatoes, macaroni salads, corn on cob, rolls, cole slaw salad, provided by Gale Wyns.

Got gas in Rochester other day $2.18 gallon - filled up.

Tonight looks like BLT's - got huge tomatoes from garden - Heirloom ones absolutely beautiful. Also getting ready to can - this year we plan on doing around 30 qts.

Canada's favorite. Back bacon. Pork loin cured for a week, rolled in peameal (now cornmeal since you can't find peameal) sliced and fried over low heat. Excellent with eggs or on a Sammy. Made about four pounds a few weeks ago....almost gone!!

I think I mentioned this in a past post some time ago. But a friend of mine who wanted to know how to cure the Prociutto di Parma, which I taught him, and he now makes 3 q year, takes a pork loin, encases in red wine and garlic and salt and cures it. You need to salt it often but after a short time, it no longer will take anymore salt. Pork loin has no bone nor very little fat. And the taste is quite like prosciutto di parma.

We had last night chicken breasts on the grill with cut up summer squash and zucchini. Corn on cob, baked beans, cut tomatoes in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and green beans. We had the kids over as usual.
