Not the Best but for me as a youth at 16 the most memorable would be the Pickering Hotel .

I'd say McGhans, but seeing as we are only listing Canandaigua. guess not. Next year we should do the best of Ontario County or maybe do a "worst of" list

Saw my first real "bar fight" at the Carpet. Chairs flying, people across the bar, that whole nine yards!

Put my back to the wall and slid around to the door.

I recall in those days there were a lot more visible 1% bike gangs in bars too, you don't see that any more.

In the olden days it was ginghamtown in the mid to late 60's when I walked in, eventually becoming Magic Carpet, where Schooners is now. Clarky's, where Dobbers is now. McCarthy's, Charlies, Harbor Lights, Danny's Tavern. I remember Boyles and they use to have a ring and threw it toward a nail on the wall. Anyone remember that. Never saw that anywhere else - but again it was out of town. Reeds Corners. Ruby Ann's, Fritz & otters - all out of town. Rossi's also out of town where the Rossi Music is now. There was a gin mill above Cricketts of Canandaigua. You had to walk up those flight of covered stairs on the outside. Nice place had good jazz and unusual beer. Maybe some one here will remember that bars name. Gleasons which become the Stagecoach, then the Pickering. Lumberyard, which was Sam's on the Corner. Caruso's and Lakeshore bar. There also was a bar in the old Townline Plaza but I can't for the life of me think what it was called.
